Fresh Twist in Tob Cohen Murder Probe as Sarah Wairimu Returns to Kitisuru Home

Investigations into the death of Dutch-Kenyan businessman Tob Cohen took a fresh turn after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), accompanied by court officials, escorted the main suspect, Sarah Wairimu, to the late businessman’s residence in Kitisuru, Nairobi.

The visit followed a court order allowing Wairimu access to the property to retrieve personal belongings and documents, including financial records and banking documents that remained at the residence.

Authorities said the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to review records that could be relevant to the case while also addressing issues surrounding personal property linked to the suspect.

Wairimu, who has been at the center of the high-profile murder investigation for years, was granted supervised access to the home for the first time since the case began. Detectives and court officials monitored the process as she identified and collected documents and other personal effects.

The death of Tob Cohen remains one of Kenya’s most closely watched criminal cases. The prominent businessman was found dead at his Kitisuru home in September 2019 after he was reported missing for several weeks. His death sparked extensive investigations, court proceedings, and disputes involving family wealth and property.

Authorities have not disclosed whether any new evidence was recovered during Thursday’s exercise. However, investigators maintain that the review of documents and records remains an important part of the ongoing probe.

The court-supervised visit comes as legal proceedings surrounding the case continue, nearly seven years after Cohen’s death shocked the country and attracted widespread public attention.
