Rwanda and Egypt have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation through a new partnership aimed at accelerating technological advancement, fostering innovation, and preparing their workforces for the digital economy.
The agreement focuses on expanding collaboration in AI research, digital transformation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing, as both countries seek to harness emerging technologies to drive economic growth and improve public service delivery.
Under the partnership, Rwanda and Egypt will promote joint research projects, facilitate the exchange of technical expertise, and support training programmes designed to equip young people with the digital skills needed in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
Officials say the collaboration will also encourage innovation by supporting the development of AI-powered solutions that can address challenges across sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, finance, and public administration.
The agreement reflects growing efforts by African countries to strengthen regional cooperation in emerging technologies as governments increasingly view artificial intelligence as a key driver of economic competitiveness, productivity, and sustainable development.
By combining expertise and investing in digital talent, Rwanda and Egypt aim to create new opportunities for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs while accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies that can enhance economic resilience and improve the quality of public services.
The partnership underscores both countries’ commitment to positioning themselves as regional leaders in digital transformation and highlights the increasing importance of cross-border collaboration in shaping Africa’s digital future.
