Trinity Metals has completed its first controlled blast at Musha Mine, marking a major step in the mine’s transition to a more mechanized, productive operation.
The blast was conducted on Level 5 of the Heza Decline and involved 28 charged blast holes. Each round is expected to advance approximately 1.2 metres, compared with about 0.15 metres per day under current development methods.
The faster development pace is expected to accelerate access to deeper tin-bearing zones and support the extension of the mine’s operating life.
Musha is Rwanda’s second-largest tin producer, after Trinity Metals’ Rutongo Mine, with first production from Level 5 expected within the next six months.
The development forms part of Trinity Metals’ efforts to modernize its mining operations and increase productivity as Rwanda seeks to expand mineral production and add greater value to its mining sector.
