Kigali could feature a skyline of high-rise towers, modern transport systems and expanded green spaces by 2035, according to City of Kigali spokesperson Emma Claudine, who shared the city’s long-term vision during an interview on EAMG Radio‘s Daily Upgrade.
The interview aired on Daily Upgrade, EAMG Radio’s flagship weekday morning programme, broadcast every Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Kigali time. The show features conversations with policymakers, business leaders, innovators and public officials on issues shaping Rwanda and the wider East African region.
Speaking on the programme, Claudine said Kigali’s transformation will be driven by smart urban planning, sustainable development and continued investment in modern infrastructure. She pointed to ongoing and planned developments, including high-rise buildings in Nyarutarama (Ramba Hills), additional landmark projects near City Hall (Equity Bank Towers), dedicated bus lanes, improved road networks, and the modernization of Nyabugogo Bus Terminal, one of Rwanda’s busiest public transport hubs.
“We will have many towers in Kigali… We will have dedicated bus lanes, upgraded roads and a very modern Nyabugogo bus station,” Claudine said while describing the city’s vision for the coming decade. Beyond physical infrastructure, she said Kigali’s future depends on creating a city that is environmentally sustainable, safe and inclusive.
She also highlighted Nyandungu Eco-Park as a destination every visitor should experience, describing it as one of the capital’s standout attractions.Claudine stressed that residents have a critical role to play in achieving the city’s ambitions, urging them to respect regulations, protect public infrastructure and pay taxes, which she said are essential for financing public services and urban development.H
