Kagame, CAR President advance agenda for stronger regional partnership

President Paul Kagame met with Central African Republic leader Faustin-Archange Touadéra to discuss ways of strengthening the partnership and cooperation between Rwanda and the CAR. 

Central African Republic President, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, arrived in Kigali for a two-day working visit,  according to Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.He was welcomed by Rwanda’s Minister of Internal Security, Dr. Vincent Biruta.

His visit highlights the solid ties between Rwanda and the Central African Republic, especially in security cooperation and peacekeeping efforts.

A statement from President Kagame’s office noted that the meeting highlighted ongoing areas of collaboration, particularly Rwanda’s military support in the Central African Republic, both through RDF troops deployed under the bilateral security pact and those contributing to the  United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) for peace keeping mission.

Rwanda has also been instrumental in helping CAR strengthen its security institutions, including training members of its national army.

The two leaders also discussed new avenues to broaden their cooperation, exploring sectors that could deliver shared benefits for citizens of both nations.

Rwanda and the Central African Republic continue to enjoy solid ties in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, security, and mining.
