Kenya to Disburse Second NYOTA Youth Fund Tranche from April 20

Government set to release Ksh25,000 to beneficiaries nationwide

Government of Kenya is set to release Ksh25,000 to beneficiaries nationwide

Kenya will begin disbursing the second tranche of funds under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme from April 20, 2026, in a nationwide rollout targeting thousands of young beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Cooperatives said each beneficiary will receive Ksh25,000, as part of the government’s broader plan to support youth-led businesses and improve income generation. Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni confirmed that the second phase will be conducted simultaneously across the country, unlike the first rollout, which was phased.

Officials say all selected participants have completed mentorship programmes and are ready to receive the funds. Business development experts have also been deployed to provide training and support during the disbursement process.

The government indicated that beneficiaries would receive official notifications ahead of the rollout, while efforts are ongoing to include applicants who missed out in the first phase.

The NYOTA programme, funded by the World Bank, is a five-year initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment, income insecurity, and limited savings. More than 100,000 young Kenyans benefited during the first phase, with each receiving direct business support and savings contributions.

In addition to the fund, the government is also launching an On-the-Job Experience (OJE) programme targeting 14,000 participants, offering workplace training and a monthly stipend to boost employability.
