Kenya’s State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards has clarified that the suspension of meetings, conferences and seminars held in hotels applies only to staff within the department.
In a public clarification, the department said the measure is an internal administrative decision intended to ensure technical officers are available to support ongoing emergency response operations.
The directive prioritises emergency preparedness, contact tracing and response activities aimed at containing Ebola and preventing further transmission.
It also supports the implementation of established standard operating procedures for the prevention, preparedness and management of Ebola and other highly contagious infectious diseases.
The department emphasised that the measure does not amount to a blanket suspension of government meetings, conferences or seminars held in hotels, addressing potential confusion over the scope of the directive.
