Tournament Expands with New Professional Categories and Major Sponsorship
More than 200 golfers are set to compete in the 2025 edition of the PMC Sensitive Golf League, which returns with revamped structures and the inclusion of professional categories. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, October 18, at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas.
The PMC (Piga Mingi Crew) golf tournament was initially founded by a group of Rwandan golf enthusiasts who often found themselves on the losing side of local competitions. They came together to create a friendly tournament where players could compete and have a chance to win prizes.
Over the past ten years, the tournament has grown in popularity and participation, evolving into one of Rwanda’s most anticipated golf events. This year, organizers have expanded the tournament further, making it open to all interested golfers, raising the total number of competitors to more than 200.
One of the significant developments this year is the partnership deal that has seen Sensitive Group Ltd become the main sponsor of the tournament. Under this agreement, the tournament has been rebranded to the Sensitive PMC Golf League.
Wilson Mugwema, the CEO of Sensitive Group, expressed optimism about the new partnership, stating that it marks a new era for the tournament. “The PMC Sensitive Golf League has come a long way. We want it to be recognized not just in Rwanda but across the region. This year, we’ve introduced a professional category to allow elite golfers to compete, while amateurs will continue to take part as well,” Mugwema said.
He further emphasized the goal of elevating the game by showcasing local golfing talent and attracting more investors into the sport. “Our aim is to create a platform that not only promotes competition but also fosters the growth of golf in Rwanda,” he added.
Kigali Golf Club captain, Eugene Murenjekha, highlighted the potential benefits of the partnership, stating that the tournament will only grow bigger and more competitive. “Having a strong sponsor like Sensitive Group will help the tournament grow and attract more players, including young golfers who are the future of the game,” he said.
The PMC Sensitive Golf League will take place in several rounds throughout the year, culminating with the final on December 6. This structure aims to maintain excitement and engagement among participants and spectators alike.
As the tournament approaches, anticipation is building among golfers and fans, with many looking forward to the new professional category and the chance to witness elite golfing talent in action. The inclusion of more than 200 competitors signifies the growing interest in golf within the region.
In conclusion, the 2025 Sensitive PMC Golf League promises to be a landmark event in Rwandan sports, showcasing the evolution of local golf and the commitment to fostering talent and competition.
