The Africa HealthTech Summit 2026 (AHTS 2026) will take place from September 30 to October 2 at the Kigali Convention Centre, bringing together policymakers, health leaders, technology innovators, investors and international partners to examine the future of healthcare across Africa.
The fifth edition of the summit will be held under the theme “Wellness for All: Powered by Intelligent Health Systems,” highlighting the growing role of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and data-driven systems in improving health outcomes and strengthening healthcare delivery. The summit is co-hosted by Africa CDC and Smart Africa, in partnership with the Government of Rwanda, and implemented by Dala Africa Group.
Since its launch in 2022, the Africa HealthTech Summit has developed into a platform for discussions around digital health transformation and health innovation. The 2025 edition, for example, brought together health and technology leaders to examine how connected technologies, including AI, cloud computing, IoT, robotics, drones and blockchain, can support stronger and more equitable health systems.
A Platform for Policy, Investment and Innovation
AHTS 2026 will feature ministerial keynotes and strategic dialogues focused on digital health transformation, artificial intelligence, data-driven governance and emerging models of healthcare delivery.
The CEO and Investors Forum will provide a platform for businesses, investors and other stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, partnerships and cross-border collaboration in Africa’s health technology ecosystem.
Innovation will also be at the centre of the event through the Innovation and Wellness Exhibition, where companies and innovators are expected to showcase technologies and solutions aimed at improving healthcare and population wellness.
The summit will further include policy roundtables and technical masterclasses, designed to address regulatory innovation, skills development and knowledge sharing between countries.
Strengthening Africa’s Digital Health Ecosystem
The summit comes as African institutions continue to push for greater use of digital technology to strengthen health systems, improve disease surveillance and expand access to healthcare.
Africa CDC and Smart Africa have previously highlighted digitalisation as an important part of building stronger health systems on the continent, including efforts to connect health facilities and workers and improve the use of data in public health decision-making.
Africa CDC has also increasingly emphasised the need for African-led, data-driven and resilient health systems, alongside stronger domestic capacity, financing and health sovereignty.
Connecting Innovation to Markets
AHTS 2026 will also feature curated side events and field visits intended to strengthen collaboration among participants and encourage practical exchange beyond the main conference programme.
A co-located event, Access to Markets, hosted by Investing in Innovation Africa, will focus on connecting health innovators with markets and opportunities that can help promising solutions move from development to wider implementation.
The organisers say the five-year milestone edition is intended to reinforce Africa’s commitment to developing inclusive, wellness-oriented and intelligent health systems.
With Kigali again serving as the meeting point for government, business, technology and healthcare stakeholders, the summit is expected to put the continent’s digital health ambitions, investment needs and innovation opportunities at the centre of discussions.
