BK Arena is marking seven years since it opened its doors in 2019 as Kigali Arena, becoming one of Rwanda’s most prominent venues for sport, entertainment and major international events.
The venue was renamed BK Arena in 2022 following an agreement between Bank of Kigali (BK) and QA Venue Solutions.
Over the past seven years, the arena has hosted a wide range of high-profile events, including the FIA Awards, FIFA Congress, UCI Championships, Trace Awards, Giants of Africa Festival and Move Afrika, alongside major concerts, sporting competitions and local events.
Beyond the events themselves, BK Arena has become part of Rwanda’s growing sports, entertainment and events ecosystem, creating opportunities for event organizers, production companies, businesses, creatives and young professionals.
Large international events hosted at the venue have also brought audiences, athletes, artists and business leaders to Kigali, contributing to Rwanda’s ambition to position itself as a destination for major conferences, sporting competitions and entertainment events.
For local creatives and businesses, the venue has provided a platform to participate in productions and events that attract international attention, creating opportunities across areas such as audiovisual production, event management, hospitality, transport and merchandising.
The arena’s seven-year journey also reflects Rwanda’s broader investment in modern infrastructure designed to support the country’s growing sports, tourism, entertainment and MICE industries.
Seven years after opening, BK Arena continues to serve as more than a venue for events. It has become a meeting point for sport, entertainment, business and creativity, while providing a platform for Rwanda to host events with regional and global audiences.
