Security agencies in Delta State are intensifying efforts to close operational gaps through closer cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force.

The renewed push for collaboration followed a working visit by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, to the Commander of the 63 Brigade and Sector 1 of Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, in Asaba on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade, the engagement focused on improving coordination, intelligence exchange and joint responses to security threats across the state.

During the meeting, CP Adesola stressed that effective policing in Delta requires seamless information sharing and combined operations, particularly in hard-to-reach riverine and coastal communities where security challenges persist.

Brigadier General Shonibare welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to working closely with the police and other security bodies to maintain law and order. He assured the police leadership of continued military support in crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.

Both leaders agreed that sustained inter-agency cooperation is essential for strengthening Delta State’s security framework and responding swiftly to emerging threats.

The renewed collaboration aligns with the state government’s broader security agenda, including the launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund in 2025, aimed at improving security through coordinated public and private sector support.
