BK Arena was buzzing with excitement on Saturday, November 22, as people from across the region gathered to celebrate Rwandan traditional music and dance at the “Kigali Dutaramane” concert.

The event brought together a diverse crowd, including ambassadors, government officials, and celebrated musicians such as Cecile Kayirebwa, Ruti Joel, Boukuru, and Intore Massamba. Several dancing troupes, including Intwarabahizi and Ibihame by Imana, also performed, captivating audiences of all ages and nationalities.

The concert opened with a dynamic performance by Intwarabahizi, followed by official remarks from Kigali Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva. The Mayor thanked partners, parents, and youth for supporting the cultural revival and encouraged continued backing for Rwandan artists.

“We want Kigali to be a city where people live well, work, and enjoy cultural events like this. The Dutaramane concert is the first of many to come,” Dusengiyumva said.

Audience members and performers alike expressed joy, excitement, and hope for future events. Despite the late hour, the energy in the arena remained high, with attendees reluctant to see the night end.

Concerts like “Kigali Dutaramane” play a vital role in preserving Rwandan culture, ensuring that traditional music and dance continue to inspire generations to come.
