May 2026 offered one of the clearest examples yet of Rwanda’s growing ambitions. Within a single month, Kigali hosted or prepared to host a series of major events across business, governance, energy, law, and sport. The lineup included the Africa CEO Forum, the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa, the Attorneys General PACT Forum 2026, the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2026 playoffs, and the 47th CAVB Men’s Club Championship.
Together, these events showcased Rwanda’s ability to successfully manage diverse, high-profile gatherings while positioning Kigali as a central meeting point for Africa’s biggest conversations.
The Africa CEO Forum brought together business leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the continent, reinforcing Kigali’s growing role as a hub for investment and economic dialogue. Meanwhile, the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa highlighted Rwanda’s interest in future-focused sectors such as energy innovation and technology.
On the governance side, the Attorneys General PACT Forum gathered senior legal officials and development partners to discuss stronger legal systems and public-private partnerships across Africa, further strengthening Rwanda’s image as a trusted venue for strategic continental discussions.
Sport also remained a major part of Kigali’s international profile. The BAL playoffs at BK Arena continued to attract global attention and thousands of basketball fans, while the 47th CAVB Men’s Club Championship demonstrated Rwanda’s increasing capacity to host major continental sporting events.
What makes Rwanda’s rise particularly notable is the consistency behind it. The country has invested heavily in facilities such as the Kigali Convention Centre and BK Arena, while also building a reputation for safety, cleanliness, and efficient logistics. Kigali’s compact and organized layout has become another advantage for delegates and event organizers.
