NFL, IFAF expand flag football push in Africa
The National Football League and International Federation of American Football have stepped up efforts to grow flag football in Africa, hosting a four-day development clinic in Accra.
The program trained local teachers to introduce the sport in schools and brought together coaches from across the continent including Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa for hands-on sessions and collaboration.
Flag football, one of the fastest-growing sports globally, is set to debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics, adding momentum to its expansion.

Africa is being positioned as a key growth region, with a focus on grassroots access and long-term development.
