Paul Kagame has extended congratulations to Ismail Omar Guelleh following his re-election, reaffirming the strong and longstanding relationship between Rwanda and Djibouti.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Kagame revealed that he held a phone conversation with Guelleh, describing him as “my brother” and expressing optimism about the future of bilateral cooperation. He emphasized Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening ties and working closely with Djibouti to advance shared priorities, particularly in areas of economic growth and prosperity.

Djibouti, strategically located in the Horn of Africa, has long been an important partner for Rwanda in regional cooperation, trade, and diplomacy.

Meanwhile, Louise Mushikiwabo also conveyed her congratulations, highlighting Djibouti’s influential role within the Francophone community. She described the country as a leading nation of Francophonie in the Horn of Africa and a key partner of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

Mushikiwabo underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Djibouti and the Francophone bloc, particularly in advancing development and strengthening cooperation among French-speaking nations.

Guelleh’s re-election is expected to sustain Djibouti’s political continuity and reinforce its partnerships across Africa, including with Rwanda, as both nations seek to deepen economic ties and regional integration efforts.
