Hollywood star Idris Elba was given an exclusive tour of Zaria Court in Kigali, experiencing firsthand how the space is transforming the city’s creative and sporting landscape.
Elba, accompanied by business leaders Masai Ujiri, Yerim Sow, and Hassanein Hiridjee, explored the multi-purpose hub, which blends sports, culture, and entertainment under one roof. The visit highlighted Zaria Court’s growing role in fostering community engagement, providing opportunities for youth, and inspiring creativity across Rwanda.
During the tour, Elba observed how the venue serves as a meeting point for young talent and entrepreneurs, illustrating the potential of such districts to drive innovation while strengthening community ties.
Opened in July 2025, Zaria Court was created to serve as a central hub where sports, culture, and entertainment converge, with the purpose of empowering youth, encouraging entrepreneurship, and nurturing Rwanda’s creative and athletic talent.
Elba is no stranger to Rwanda. He previously visited the country in 2023, when he and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, participated in the annual Kwita Izina mountain gorilla naming ceremony, an event celebrating Rwanda’s iconic wildlife. During that visit, he also met with President Paul Kagame, further highlighting his ongoing connection to the country.
By welcoming global figures like Elba, Zaria Court is gaining international attention, showcasing Rwanda’s strides in leveraging sports and culture as tools for social and economic development.
