England and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has won the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or, capping a prolific season in which he scored 73 goals for club and country.
Kane, 33, claimed the award at the ceremony held at London’s Palladium on October 26, becoming the first Englishman to win football’s most prestigious individual honour since Michael Owen in 2001. France’s Kylian Mbappé finished second, followed by Spain’s Lamine Yamal in third.
Kane’s award followed an outstanding 2025–26 campaign in which he scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern across all competitions, helping the German club secure the domestic league and cup double. He also scored six goals at the World Cup as England reached the semi-finals.
Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time, following a treble-winning season with Barcelona before her move to London City Lionesses.
Other winners included Yamal and Vicky López, who received the men’s and women’s young-player awards respectively. Spain’s Unai Simón won the men’s goalkeeper award, while Barcelona’s Cata Coll took the women’s prize.
Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente was named men’s coach of the year, while Barcelona coach Pere Romeu won the women’s award. Paris Saint-Germain claimed the men’s Club of the Year title, with Barcelona taking the women’s honour. Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka received the Sócrates Award for humanitarian work.
The 2026 ceremony marked the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d’Or, established by France Football in 1956. It was held in London for the first time, honouring the legacy of inaugural winner Sir Stanley Matthews.
