Sherrie Silver Opens Up on Why She’s Still Single: “I Don’t Really Meet Men”

Rwandan-born choreographer and dancer Sherrie Silver has jokingly explained why she is not yet married, saying she rarely meets men and tends to shy away from romantic encounters.

Silver made the comments in an Instagram exchange after a friend praised her and questioned how she was not already someone’s wife.

“I genuinely don’t know how you’re not already somebody’s wife,” the friend wrote, describing Silver as an amazing friend, daughter and person.

Responding to the message, Silver said she does not really meet men and rarely has conversations with them outside of work-related interactions.

She also described herself as “quite shy and VERY AWKWARD,” joking that whenever she sees a man she finds attractive, she disappears from the scene and keeps herself busy.

Another post shared by Silver showed someone suggesting that she should spend less time in Rwanda if she wanted to find a husband, joking that Rwandan men were apparently scared of her.

Silver laughed off the comments, replying: “Girl I don’t really meet men.”

Who is Sherrie Silver?

Silver is a Rwandan-born British choreographer, dancer and actress, best known internationally for choreographing Childish Gambino’s hit 2018 music video “This Is America.” Her work on the video earned her the MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography.

She has remained active in dance and creative work while using her international platform to promote African dance and support young people, including through mentorship initiatives in Rwanda.

Despite her international career and public profile, Silver’s latest exchange offered a more personal and humorous glimpse into her life away from the dance floor.

For now, it appears the choreographer is perfectly comfortable laughing off the question of marriage — even if her friends think she should already have a husband.
